Dear reader,
I caught the flu and have been feeling quite down for the past week. I couldn’t gather the energy to write a long letter, so I thought I would share a new app I’ve been playing with since I got sick.
The app is called Lingo Legend. It sounds cheesy, it looks cheesy, but I’ve been looking forward to playing a few levels every day.
It’s one of these games where you play cards to fight enemies. The twist: for each card you play, you also have to pick the right answer to a flashcard. Simple enough, but I’ve been having fun learning some beginner words in Mandarin.
It’s not the best curriculum, it’s not the best learning method, but hey, it’s fun. It’s all I needed.
I’ve been looking for a good app to learn radicals, and learn characters with help from the radical definitions. The etymology and origin of words is very helpful for me to remember them. Does anyone have a recommendation?
Best,
Lou

Thank you for reading “I heard from Lou”. It can be hard to find people who share your passion for learning. If you have friends who might like this letter, let them know.
Glad you found a game to play while you're sick! I've played LingoLegends in Mandarin and French. It's not my type of game but I had some fun. Hope you feel better!
A cheesy language learning app is the best thing you can do to yourself when you're sick! Hope you get better soon.
